Military Field Watches

By

Military field watches are often confused with diving watches (those with rotating bevels and are waterproof up to 200 meters). These field watches are the generic name for timepieces intended for soldiers. Although some non-divers wear diving watches, there are also non-soldiers who wear military watches who do not really need the features these watches offer but are just keen on their design.
Tactical watches have analog designs and often are self-winding or need to be wound up mechanically but there are newer designs that come in digital format. The casing is usually made of stainless steel however; the more trendy ones are made up of either plastic or metal.
These military field watches are often large, sometimes with a diameter of 40mm, and have dials and hands that are clear and easily read. The numerals are simple but with high contrast. The surfaces are not shiny since reflections of the light can pinpoint their location to the enemies. The field watches often comes in olive drab camouflage colors, dark blue or black. These are designed to keep up with the color theme of police units or special operations. Tactical watches should be able to survive the harshness of the outdoors and are waterproof. The straps should be resistant to dirt and is low-maintenance or if possible does not need any maintenance at all. Some have rubber straps that are cheap but tough whilst others have canvass straps that keeps up with the over all look and color of tactical watches. The only drawback these two types of straps have is that they would have a distinct smell when they are not kept dry.
The watches have illuminated displays for telling time in low-light situations or at night. The analog types usually have dials and displays with luminous paint but tend to be impractical for the constant glow can give away the position of the soldier. The digital type has a light that can be triggered manually thus are more trusty. Military men prefer to have a 24-hour time display. Digital field watches can convert to a 24-hour display with no trouble while analog watches have another indicator scale that shows thirteen to twenty-four that corresponds to the normal one to twelve scale.
Military field watches are not suitable with any business settings as these would need more formal types of watches. They simply do not go with the suit! Wearing tactical watches to the CEO meetings is like attending a black-tie dinner wearing work boots! They are not just proper for formal venues. These watches are intended for people who are active and always on the go. These should be worn in outdoor and rugged settings.
The military watches are no longer restricted for military personnel use but can be worn are by fashionistas, extreme sports fans or by those urban warriors. The military watches of today are offered with more fashion flair and many versions are available. The inbuilt toughness of these watches makes them perfect for extreme sports and their extra features make them just the thing for gadget freaks and urban warriors prefer them for their cool look, just right for the street look.
Tactical watches come in many versions nowadays to complement the needs of most non-soldiers. They are becoming the popular choices for teenagers and fashionistas alike.
